Civil Engineer Internship


Primary Purpose:

The Civil Engineer Intern will work on a range of engineering and design projects to assist Project Managers, Senior Engineers, and other team members with a wide variety of design, engineering and drafting tasks. In particular, this role will provide a strong foundation in learning the fundamentals of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Junior year of university/college or higher in civil engineering with some engineering courses completed. Candidates undertaking a Bachelor of Science degree in geomatics or surveying will also be considered—must be in junior year or higher.
Prior work experience at a civil engineering firm preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
  • 1.0 FTE; Monday through Friday (office hours 7:30 am to 4:30 pm)

  • Desktop computer
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) software
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires sitting in office chair and typing on keyboard for periods of up to two hours without a break.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and over the telephone.
  • Occasionally requires bending and lifting/transporting of moderately heavy objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, handle other computer components, and other digital devices.
  • General vision, hearing, speech, walking, and standing required. Turning, twisting, keeling, and bending performed.
  • Requires alertness to respond to audio and visual cues from the environment, including computers, calculators, telephone systems and other staff members.
